Grand Central Bakery is seeking a visionary Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our finance team and champion our mission to serve our customers delicious, authentic food made from high-quality local and sustainable ingredients while growing a healthy, values-driven business. As a strategic partner to the President and executive leadership team, the CFO will guide long-term financial planning, capital strategy, and risk management. This role brings financial data to life—identifying trends, translating insights across all levels of the organization, and driving informed decision-making. We’re looking for a leader who thrives in a collaborative, open-book environment and is passionate about building financial literacy, improving systems, and fostering transparency. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead fiscal strategy, performance, and planning aligned with our mission and growth goals. 
  • Model ROI across initiatives, investments, and product lines. 
  • Deliver timely, meaningful financial reporting and analysis. 
  • Champion budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting processes. 
  • Build intuitive tools and systems that empower teams and streamline operations. 
  • Manage banking and insurance relationships with a focus on long-term financial health. 
  • Partner with HR on benefits and retirement plans. 
  • Educate teams on financial concepts and open-book management. 

Skills & Experience 

  • 10+ years in financial leadership (Controller, VP of Finance, etc.). 
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, tax principles, and financial reporting. 
  • Experience in retail and wholesale environments. 
  • Skilled in ERP systems and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). 
  • Strong communicator with a commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Familiarity with ESG principles and B Corporation standards.

Location: Portland or Seattle (hybrid eligible). 

Compensation: $200,000 full-time annual equivalent; bonus eligible
