Grand Central Bakery is a local and independent artisan bakery founded in 1989.  Our friendly neighborhood cafes delight Seattle and Portland customers with rustic, slow-rise breads, irresistible pastries, and delicious café cuisine.  We also deliver our artisan products daily to Northwest grocers and restaurants.

What You’ll Do
As Brand & Marketing Director, you will:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with and supports our mission and values as a local and independent B-Corp bakery.
  • Elevate the Grand Central Bakery brand to delight customers and build sales, ensuring a cohesive and compelling presence across all digital and physical touchpoints, including cafes, packaging, and public relations. 
  • Oversee all marketing, communication, design, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our brand voice resonates authentically to all stakeholders internally and externally across all platforms.
  • Evaluate marketing effectiveness using data and analytics to inform decisions and refine strategy. 
  • Direct the design, sourcing, and production of marketing assets, packaging, signage, and branded products.
  • Manage relationships with external marketing and design partners, including budgets and project scopes.
  • Stay current with industry trends and lead community outreach efforts with business, civic, and nonprofit partners.
  • This position may be based in either Portland, OR or Seattle, WA, with regular travel between the two markets.
Qualifications
We’re looking for a seasoned, results-driven brand professional with:
  • 10+ years of experience in consumer marketing or brand (multi-location retail preferred)
  • 3+ years managing external vendors and consultants
  • 3+ years managing a marketing budget
  • Experience managing a team (preferred)
  • Expertise in omnichannel marketing (email, social, digital, web/SEO)
  • Strong knowledge of current trends in design, web, and production
  • Experience with content creation and media buying
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling abilities
  • Bonus: Photography and video creation skills
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $130,000 annually + bonus potential
